About the Series
With the success of the Mystic Michigan book series, Mark decided to investigate the production of a series that would take his work off the page and put it on the screen.
Mark Boardman of Boardman Video in Cadillac, Michigan agreed to produce the pilot episode of “Mystic Michigan: The Series.” With some help from intern Ashton Healan, they investigated many areas around Michigan, and produced the series open. Eventually, the team also produced episode 2, and both episodes were broadcast on local television in the Cadillac area.
After production ended, Mark reached out to the Television and Digital Media Production program at Ferris State University to produce episode 3. Ultimately, Nick Kuiper, Associate Professor in the TDMP program agreed to produce the series if students were willing.
A group of 14 TDMP students agreed to take on the project, and over 16 weeks, they were able to realize the program from the screenwriting stage, all the way through post production.
Traveling to landmarks around the state of Michigan, over 1,000 miles, the entire third episode was a student lead production.
